24 hour Frag-o-Thon 8

Frag-o-Thon 8!

You wanted it, you've got it! Frag-o-Thon8 will fill the gap between our last event and September FragFest! From midday till midday, 24th to 25th of July the FragFest community will fill Blaxland High School's Hall for an all night Fragging Marathon. We will be keeping you toasty warm while you game all night, thanks to some warehouse grade heating we will be renting (details in the FragFest Forums), but even with a free play Wii to help keep you warm - please please please bring some properly warm clothing and a spare jumper. Incidentally this will be our tenth ever overnight event, and the 8th in the Frag-o-Thon series.

Overnight LAN events are the best platform for some seriously epic RTS games. A massive Sins of a Solar Empire game is already being organised, which will most likely extend throughout the night. Some seriously huge 2v2v2v2 Dawn of War battles will inevitably rage whilst co-op Rainbow 6 is already a forgone conclusion.

There is an age limit which is higer than our day events, due to the overnight stay etc. We cannot take responsibility for minors, they must attend with a guardian. If this excludes you then please join us at our SeptemberLAN event where the age limit may include you. Please see the FragFest FAQ for the details of our admissable age policies.

Parking is of course, totally free and extremely close to the venue entry. New comers will find that although just outside the city, the Blaxland venue is easy to find and easy to get to whilst being close to many different fast food outlets with a nice pub just a few hundred meters away. (Although we cannot allow drinking on the school premises as per normal department of education requirements)

Fun Comps at FoT8

Mascot!

Were bringing back two timeless just-for-fun comps at Frag-o-Thon 8. Namely the competition for the cutest mascot and the best dressed! A mascot is a cute little (emphasis on little) stuffed toy which stands atop your case or monitor, guarding you whilst you play and bringing you good fortune. Finally you have a use for those stuffed toys you win in arcades or promotional give aways! We will be judging the cutest mascot based on cuteness, old school pop-culture references, originality, and effort. Best dressed is your chance to bring your fatigues or pirate costume our of moth balls and don your after hours alter ego whilst you pwn n00bz (own newbies). Best dressed will be judged on effort, authenticity, pop-culture references and originality. In both cases excesive cost and cross dressing wont provide an edge over the competition! Prizes will go to first and second in both categories. Check out the forums for more details!

Other events in Sydney

JuneLAN2 photo

We encourage everyone to also check out some of the other LAN events in Sydney. FragFest enjoys a large and very loyal community that has steadily grown to make us the premier LAN event in Sydney. Its been awesome to see a number of other LAN events emerge in the last year which are now starting to see stronger turn outs and very well organised events. There are also a number of events just outside Sydney which may be local to some, or perhaps people are keen to drive a few hours for a great day of LAN.

FragFest encourages other LAN events to post their event details in our Community Events section of the FragFest forums. This becomes a central place where the FragFest community can find out about other local events. Additionally the Overclockers Australia Wiki includes a LAN event index page, which is one of the last remaining lists of events nation wide and is reasonably up to date.
